Sen. Allen accused by one person, and not from 17 others who knew him from college some 30 years ago, of using the N word. And boy is the left in a political tizzy over that? They have a one-page playbook. Don't discuss issues, destroy them personally and professionally so you can win by default.
I'm sick of Democrats playing the race card in every election. Why? To get votes. From who? Blacks, not Whites. Aside from being a disgusting thing to do to someone not deserving of it, what's more disgusting is that it works. It's about time for Black Democrats to be insulted by Democrats pulling their racial achilles heel every election and kick them to the curb on that basis alone. Seems to me they depend on stirring up racial tension lest Blacks may vote Republican. As close as elections have been since 2000, they must feel it mandatory to scare Blacks into voting Democrat. A few percentage points loss of the Black vote will be trouble for Democrats getting their power back. And we know that Democrats getting their power back is more important than stirring up racial tensions, don't we?
And what am I to make of this thing with Oprah? Is this supposed to be a joke? Satire? Shoe on the other foot, would it be funny if Sen. Allen made comments like Oprah is doing today? Sounds like she is on a take-a-whitey-to-lunch kind of thing. What's up with that?

Homeschooling, school vouchers, accountability, all are ways to combat 'the soft bigotry of low expectations' when it comes to educating our children to become successful and productive members of society. That goal isn't a race thing, its a human thing. The demographics of 'the educated' can, however, be described in racial and ethnic terms, but only at the risk of being counterproductive. There is evidence now that homeschooling among Black families is on the rise, the results of which can only be good for the kids, the families, and society.
What matters is what counts, and what counts is our children, not brick and mortar schools, not teachers unions, not bureaucrats.

The shift to the left in the political spectrum that the democrat party has achieved in the last year, has caused them to leave their legacy base behind. As a result, Sen. Joe Lieberman is now running as an independent for his own three-term seat because today's democrat party has shunned him. What with his 90% voting record in sync with his party. About the only thing I can think of that democrats are color-blind in with respect to race is their quest for the liberal mantra. Now Blacks aren't liberal enough. And this, from a constituency that votes 92% democrat.
Aside from the arrogance of this party in, by everyone's estimation, taking Black voters for granted, now they are tightening control and telling Blacks that they aren't liberal enough?
This repulsive thought aside, all I can say to Black voters is, the republican party welcomes you. Politics aside, your vote is not decided by party affiliation. The Florida panhandle is a good example. The legacy democrats down here are more conservative than their party leadership and vote with less emphasis on the D than on the issues. It's not so much that there aren't democrats down here that the party talks about writing off the south. It's that a lot of democrats down here will vote for a republican or a republican policy. They were left behind long before Joe Lieberman.

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin still making excuses for his performance. Before a convention of Black journalists, he says it's because he, and 60% of New Orleans, is Black.
"And I, to this day, believe that if that would have happened in Orange County, California, if that would have happened in South Beach, Miami, it would have been a different response," Nagin said.
I agree with that assessment. The difference is the leaders there would have used their buses, and the people would have handled it better. The un-preparedness of the good mayor has nothing to do with his skin color, it's his attitude, compounded by incompetence.
"We're not going to let that happen. They're going to give us our money, and we're going to rebuild this city."
Nagin blames delays on racism, red tape (AP).
AP - New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin on Friday blamed racism and government bureaucracy for hamstringing his city's ability to weather Hurricane Katrina and recover from the disaster that struck the Gulf Coast nearly a year ago.
But oh how quickly we forget what the Mayor said at his re-election speech May 20, 2006, just three months ago .
"President Bush. I want to thank you, Mr. President. You and I have probably been the most vilified politicians in the country. But I want to thank you for moving that promise that you made in Jackson Square forward. We now have $3 billion for levees. We have $8 billion for incentives. We have $10 billion for housing. You are delivering on your promise, and I want to thank you for all the citizens of the City of New Orleans."

More from the 'open tent' party. After shunning Sen. Joe Lieberman because of his position on the war on terror, the heavyweights at the DNC are threatening more who don't tow the line. But first on the agenda is to change their primary rules "with the aim of expanding the presence of minorities, gays, lesbians, bisexuals, trans-gender people and people with disabilities in the party." This is the first indication I've noticed where the DNC is looking to expand minorities in real political positions. Are they feeling a need to catch up to the GOP, where minorities stand on their ability?
A noble mission for any political party, but in the case of the DNC today, I think that retaining minorities might be more accurate. Could they be noticing that the party has moved left of the base of their constituents? The more success they have in nominating gays, lesbians, bisexuals, trans-gender or some other type of sexual mutant, the faster they're going to leave their base behind, for Joe Lieberman. They continue to make the smallest percentage of our population the most important, ignoring the other 90 percent. True, they are champions of and for the homeless. Everyone should have a shopping cart and a refrigerator box, because they care.
The message to potential democrat candidates is this, if you don't go along with the rule change, then you won't get any delegates. Says rules committee member from South Carolina, Carol Khare Fowler, "If you campaign in a state that is outside the rules, then you're not entitled to delegates from that state."

Just a wild guess, but maybe if they got out in front of this issue by constantly denouncing any and all the terrorists attacks, instead of being mute, things might different. If profiling bothers you, get used to it. Expect it. If the terrorists matched a profile of a fat old white guy, I'd expect to be scrutinized more too. The silence coming from Mosques in our neighborhoods can too easily be misunderstood.

Libertas at Hip Hop Republican makes an observation about Rev. Jesse Jackson. What do Punxsutawney Phil and Jesse Jackson have in common? There is one important difference. One is predisposed to see his shadow where the other is not.
If he sees it, he regards it as an omen of six more weeks of bad weather and returns to his hole.
If the day is cloudy and, hence, shadowless, he takes it as a sign of spring and stays above ground.

Washington D.C. politics has been under Democrat purview and control for decades. Unfortunately, democrats don't have any success stories they can point to that might instill confidence in voters to re-elect them for yet another term. The dollars per child that the District spends on education is among the highest in the nation and with what result? Only 58.1% of Black students that enter high school will graduate. In the same district, the graduation rate for White students is 84%. Candidate Dennis Moore correctly sees the problem as people and family oriented, rather than financial. 'It's the people stupid' is the tough-love message that Moore brings to the city. It's not that people are the problem, but rather the culture that the people are in is more destructive than constructive. Like actor Bill Cosby, Dennis Moore carries the right message, to the right people, and is determined to turn this up-hill battle into a new Washington.
DC has been a kind of anomaly in the human condition and city politics. This is a city who re-elected Marion Barry after being caught in a cocaine bust. The city's soul has suffered, not to mention the city's children. Along comes a voice of reason, Black Republican mayoral candidate Dennis Moore, whose campaign slogan is "Mayor for a New Washington."
Libertas at HipHopRepublican writes about the uphill battle Moore and any other Republican candidate in Washington faces. Time is right (no pun intended) for the people of Washington to say, we're fed up and we're not going to take it any more and to get out and support Dennis Moore.
If John Lennon had been a politician and still around today, he might have written it's time to 'give Moore a chance.'
